William J. Dusel, executive vice president and professor of English, San Jose State University, 1947-1980 : an oral history / conducted by the San Jose State University archivist, H. Brett Melendy, 1986.

William J. Dusel discusses his appointment as an English professor at San Jose State College during the post war years and his subsequent appointment as administrative assistant for President Wahlquist. He goes on to discuss how this later position led to his appointment as vice president of the college in 1957. He also recollects how he handled the start of the Educational Opportunity Program for minority students on campus and how it grew to be a large financial operation under his and President Clark's leadership. Dunsel also talks about the student riots during the 60s and how he and president Clark handled the various student uprightsing on campus.

Born in Eureka, California, H. Brett Melendy (1924-2008) spent most of his life in California and Hawaii. He received his Master of Arts in Education in 1948 and his Doctorate in History in 1952 from Stanford University. During this time, he also taught high school in Fresno, California.
